Revive the Community?

Hi guys I've been pondering the state of the 2 quaintrelle communities for a while, I had originally hoped that we could create an active and positive space for people to come together from different anachronistic groups, and share ideas and tips with each other, and build a strong sense of community. But the participation has been low, and so i think a lot of people myself included just stopped using them.

I'd like to bring them back from the brink but it has to be something we all as a community have to work at together by posting, commenting and promoting the community.

One question I had is right now there are 2 communities, my_quaintrelle  for style, and vie_quaintrelle  for lifestyle. Would people be more interested in having just the one community covering both aspects? By using tags it would be quite easy to get to the posts people most care about on either side?

If we were to combine the comms I would probably put everything under my_quaintrelle as it has the most users, and some people have already been posting the odd lifestyle tip over there.

Would this be something you guys would like? And would everyone be able to commit to making new posts and commenting to help make the community/s an active and inviting place that can self sustain?

I think one community would be better for activity. I mean, egl is busy enough to need a separate community for outfit posts, but until a community gets that big, one is more convenient.

I think having just one community is a good idea. I also feel that the decline of the "lolita" trend has contributed, so maybe we should branch out our interests a little so more people aren't afraid to join in.
I would be happy to participate more although I am afraid that my photos will not be received well, as my clothing etc are really not as elaborate as most of the ones I see here

I've been trying to make things loli-centric too. You should post your outfits! It doesn't have to be elaborate to be beautiful!

making the communities one is a good idea.

One community would be a prudent choice right now, maybe build one up before branching off into a fashion-only community? Have you also thought about having a co-mod or two that are responsible for weekly or monthly posts on the comm?

I want to stay away from creating regular mod posts for the reasons mentioned in this last post http://community.livejournal.com/vie_quaintrelle/170117.html?thread=1618565#t1618565

It just seems that there has been too much reliance on having someone direct the conversation. The only way to have an active lively community is to have all the members just post what is on their mind.
