Victorian Era Desserts, Explored Through Contemporary Literature

First of all, I would like to introduce myself.  I have been reading this forum for a while, but this is my first post.^^;  My name is Evelyn and I am a freelance writer and translator living in Tokyo, Japan.  Most of my friends call me Eva.  It's very nice to meet all of you!

Recently, I watched the Japanese animation Kuroshitusji (Black Butler), and became quite infatuated with the style and setting.  The narrative takes place in Victorian England, focusing on a young aristocrat, and introducing many issues of both history and society aside from the main story arc.  Among these is a journey through the world of Victorian sweets, as our butler presents them with utmost ceremony to his young master.
